This program not only invites agribusiness investors – both current and prospective – to participate but actively supports the government’s plans to reinforce farmers and agribusinesses into the future ensuring they remain robust, innovative and sustainable.

The RAGP is strategically designed to collaborate with Regional Tourism Boards, food and fibre groups, and other representative organisations to fund local activation events.

With grants reaching up to $70,000 per application, the program empowers communities to host events that highlight and promote the unique flavours of locally produced food and beverages, fostering a deeper connection between producers and consumers.

Funded events may include farmers’ markets, food and beverage festivals and tasting sessions – anything that directly engages local communities with producers.

Participating businesses will also see their products featured on the VIC Grown website, which showcases a variety of producer profiles, provides insights into the compelling stories behind local products and helps more consumers gain awareness of local products.

As the largest producer of food and fibre of all the Victorian regions, the Loddon Mallee is well-placed to see some exciting new events in 2024 and 2025 as a result of the program. But right now, in its ‘Expression of Interest’ stage, we thought we would help get the word out to eligible organisations and business networks in the region to apply.

Here’s what you need to know

Who can apply:

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • be a Regional Tourism Board, regional body or association or representative body
  • have a current Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • be a not-for-profit organisation
  • be a legal entity
  • hold or can obtain the relevant permit required to deliver the activation event
  • currently have or can obtain if successful current public liability and professional indemnity insurance policies
  • engage with a minimum of five (5) local agribusinesses that meet the business criteria and product eligibility criteria outlined in the Program Guidelines.

What kind of events qualify for funding?

  • The delivery of localised activation events featuring a minimum of five local agribusinesses.
  • Activations held between March 1, 2024, and March 1, 2025.
  • Project management costs (capped at 10% of total eligible project costs).
  • Participation fees for local agribusinesses.

The grant selection process involves two stages: an Expression of Interest (Stage 1) followed by the submission of supporting documentation (Stage 2).

Agriculture Minister Ros Spence officially opened the first round on January 5, with expressions of interest due by February 16, 2024. For more information about the program, and to apply visit: agriculture.vic.gov.au

Let’s help place more of Loddon Mallee’s premium produce on both local and global plates, and build on our region’s reputation as a leader in agribusiness.
