FROM FEED TO FINAL PRODUCT
In 2000, a 160-year-old dairy farming family decided it was time to expand by building a state-of-the-art production facility in Kyabram (Campaspe Shire). The Mulcahy Brothers are the fifth generation of one of Australia’s largest family-owned dairy businesses. They’re striving to push the company further than ever before.
The business owns and operates multiple dairy farms, processing plants and markets, from feed to final product, to ensure a consistent and fresh brand of milk. Their innovation in production-line techniques has been a crucial factor in their success. Most significantly, their location in the Loddon Mallee region allows them greater market access giving them a leg up on their competitors.
The future looks bright for Kyvalley Dairy as its product offering continues to grow and expand. They supply milk in all formats – from retail packs to 18,000-litre bladders for export; and they currently supply over 40% of A2 fresh milk in Australia. They’re the leading milk supplier into South-East Asia thanks to their innovative refrigerated flexitank method of shipping fresh milk without exposure to temperature rises. And, they’re always on the lookout for new opportunities for further growth and innovation.

WHY LODDON MALLEE?
FAMILY, FARM, AND A COUNTRY LIFESTYLE
The Mulcahy family have been residing in the Kyabram area since the late 1800s and have built their business on country and family values. “Kyabram is in a great position. It has good infrastructure and services at a higher value compared to larger neighbouring cities, which are close by but are much more expensive,” says Joanna Savva.
“We have generally mild weather, country living with plentiful quality amenities, affordable spacious land and good services such as banking, legal, medical and labour. We’re also not too far from Melbourne.”
“Growing our business in a regional environment has been satisfying. We’ve grown rapidly during the last 5 years and Kyabram town and the region provide strong support. We hope to maintain and grow the viability of the region’s larger towns and their services.”
“If you’re considering moving to a regional area, do it! Employees in Kyabram are friendly, country spirited, and committed to their community. Before moving, talk to a cross-section of people for their experience and assistance.”
“The Mulcahy Brothers are the 5th generation of a 160-year-old dairy farming family that have been developing their dairy business into a world-class, family corporate dairy enterprise.”
